Melanie Steinbach is the first ever Chief People Officer at Cameo, where she is responsible for human resources strategy and operations, recruitment, total rewards, organizational effectiveness, and culture initiatives as Cameo scales its fully distributed workforce. Melanie is an accomplished and dynamic business executive who cares deeply about people. Her work fostering an environment for diverse, global talent to thrive has been critical in supporting the growth and strategy evolution across a range of organizations, including global brands, family businesses, and startups, alike.
Melanie has a wealth of experience at the intersection of talent and business strategy in both corporate and consultative roles. Prior to Cameo, Melanie held the title of Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer, McDonald’s USA, after joining McDonald’s in 2017 as Vice President and Global Chief Talent Officer. Prior to joining McDonald’s, Melanie spent three years as Chief Human Resources Officer at Milliken & Company, a privately-held, diversified industrial organization where she led a transformation of the Human Resources function and talent agenda. Earlier, she spent 15 years solving business problems through talent in the consumer, retail and marketing sectors at executive search firms Highland Partners, Russell Reynolds Associates and Spencer Stuart.
Melanie graduated from Duke University with a degree in Political Science. Melanie and her husband have two teenage daughters, and her dream celebrity Cameo would be from Oprah Winfrey.

Mel joined Cameo as the company’s first-ever Chief People Officer in November 2020, where she is responsible for human resources strategy and operations, recruitment, total rewards, organizational effectiveness, and culture initiatives as Cameo builds a strong culture of togetherness while committing to a work from anywhere environment. Prior to Cameo, Mel held the title of Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer, McDonald’s USA, after joining McDonald’s in 2017 as Vice President and Global Chief Talent Officer.
